Is a Smashing Pumpkins Reunion in the Works?

Smashing-PumpkinsIn January of last year, Smashing Pumpkins mainman Billy Corgan expressed little desire to reunite the band’s classic lineup that delivered all-time albums like Gish and Siamese Dream. His stance seemed to soften as the year played out and now there’s even more reason to believe fans will have the opportunity to witness the core four members of the legendary alternative band back onstage together.

As a guest on 99.7 WLUP, Corgan told Mancow Muller (audio below), “I just talked to (Pumpkins guitarist James Iha) the other day — things look good for us to play.” The Smashing Pumpkins frontman was reluctant to reveal whether this meant Iha would be rejoining the group or playing with Corgan in some other capacity.

In March of 2016, Iha stepped onstage with Corgan and original drummer Jimmy Chamberlin (listed as a touring member of the band) in Los Angeles as part of the Pumpkins’ ‘In Plainsong’ tour. The guitarist played through songs like “Mayonaise,” “Soma,” “Rocket,” “Spaceboy,” “Today,” “Whir” and “Disarm.” Read More

New Year’s Eve with Trans-Siberian Orchestra/My Trip To Seattle by Andy Hall

screen-shot-2017-01-03-at-10-57-39-amI’d always wanted to visit the Pacific Northwest.  Specifically, Seattle.  It’s my “Graceland,” considering all the incredible history there, from both a music and a general pop culture standpoint.  Until this past weekend, I could never seem to find the time, nor the resources to get out that direction and explore.  And now, I am proud to report, I can cross it off my bucket list.

We arrived in the early afternoon on Friday, grabbed our luggage, and met our driver who was incredibly friendly and took a few extra minutes out of his busy day to drive us around downtown Seattle and show us some points of interest.  He dropped us at our hotel, The Kimpton Vintage, and we made our way up to our room on the 9th floor.  Neither my wife Mellissa nor I were interested in sitting around once we got to our destination:  we decided we wanted to hop right back on the elevator down to street level and explore the city.
